Who are Voice 21?

Voice 21 is the national oracy education charity that supports schools to build speaking and listening into the curriculum, teaching and learning, and wider school life.

We work in partnership with teachers and leaders, developing their oracy skills and knowledge in a way that can be tailored to school priorities and values. We support schools by equipping them with the oracy strategies and resources to transform classroom practice and school culture.

Our programmes are designed to build and deepen expertise and understanding in oracy education and practice, ensuring sustained change across the whole school.

Find out more about how we tailor our support for schools through the Voice 21 Oracy School Membership Series, which you can subscribe to below.

Read our FAQ

To make things simpler and clearer, our FAQ section is the best place to find everything you need to know about becoming a Voice 21 Oracy School in 2025. We cover pricing, what to prepare and how to access the Voice 21 Exchange and more.

Do I have to register for 3 years?

In short, no but the majority of our schools do. You know as well as we do that a single year is never enough to truly embed anything within school life so we’d love to have the opportunity to support you across a 3 year journey that we know works.

How much does it cost?

Primary: £2,590 per year for 3 years
Secondary or All through: £3,310 per year for 3 years
Special: £2,590 per year for 3 year

Single year registrations are slightly more expensive:
Primary: £2,890 for 1 year
Secondary or All through: £3,680 for 1 year
Special: £2,890 for 1 year

I want to register but I have a few questions

If answers to your questions can’t be found in this FAQ, and it’s critical to making your decision, you can email us directly at join@voice21.org. Your School Relationship Officer will meet with you when you sign with Voice 21 - so this ‘Welcome Meeting’ is a great time to discuss your approach and settle outstanding questions. Secure your place as a priority, if you can.

Can we get onto the Exchange before September so that we can plan staff CPD?

Yes, you’ll be able to access a limited version of the Exchange with full access granted from September. As a reminder, please plan for 90 minutes, per staff member, per term (3 main terms) to access the Exchange for their training.

I’d like to visit a Voice 21 Oracy School to see it in action

We’d love for you to see our support in action but also know that there won’t be time to set this up before we close places for September 2025 – sorry! Part of your benefits as a Voice 21 Oracy school will be access to our existing network of 1,200 schools so there will be plenty of opportunities for visits and networking!

I want to become a Voice 21 Oracy School, how do I do this?

Submit the form to request the registration form or email join@voice21.org to ask for the form. Once you submit the Registration Form and e-signature will be issued for you to sign - at this stage, your place is fully confirmed.

We have quite a few initiatives running at the moment/from September - will this be the right time?

There is never a single ‘right’ time to start oracy - it’s very likely already happening in pockets, anyway! The majority of our schools have initiatives running alongside our support, we know that you’re not ever just working on one single thing. We’ve designed the membership so that it can be moulded to weave and underpin other areas of school life. We can talk through what this might look like as we support you to put together your bespoke implementation plan.

This all sounds amazing but now I need to talk to my Headteacher/SLT - how do I capture all of this?

If they’ve got time to watch Session 2 that’s the best place to hear our support in a nutshell. If you need evidence of the impact oracy has on outcomes for students, explore the Voice 21 Impact Report. It highlights oracy's impact on student confidence, engagement and outcomes.

We’ve watched the videos and understand the components of the support but what will it actually look like day to day in our school?

Great question and one without a single answer! We recently spoke to four Voice 21 Oracy Schools (watch the On-Demand webinars here) who’ve used our CPD, resources, training and consultation to focus on different priorities, based on the starting points for their students.

What now?

Once you have submitted your order form and provided your e-signature, your membership place for September is confirmed - congratulations, you’re officially a Voice 21 Oracy School! Keep an eye out for an email from your School Relationship Officer who can answer any ‘getting started’ questions you may have and provide you with early, restricted access to our online Learning Platform; the Exchange
